Don’t Choose A Business Name Until You Read These Tips

Have you chosen your business name yet? Well, don’t get too attached!

While you may have picked something that you like the sound of, that accurately describes the nature of your business and that other people have given their vote of confidence: that doesn’t necessarily mean it will tick all the necessary boxes that make it a good choice of name.

Choosing a business name is not a decision to be taken lightly. Here are 4 tips and considerations to bear in mind when choosing your business name:

1.     Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO is ‘search engine optimization’. This means getting your website to the very top of the search engine results and is one of the main ways that many companies promote their websites.

While Apple was a great choice for a brand name many decades ago, it wouldn’t work today simply because it would be too hard to rank for. There are too many websites about apples!

2.     Alphabetical Ordering

What is good about Apple though, is that it is an ‘A’ word. This means that in an alphabetical list it will be right at the top (beneath 123-reg though!).
While this shouldn’t have too much of an impact on your choice, it is an important consideration as it can help you get a little more visibility!

3.     Domain Names

Your company name is very likely to be your domain name. That means it’s a good idea to do a search first to make sure that the domain is free.

At the same time, you also need to consider how well the word would work as a domain. Is it memorable? Does it flow off the tongue when followed by a ‘.com’?

In my Free Personal Branding Email Course, you’ll get tips on the best way to choose your domain name to create a unique and unforgettable personal brand.

4.     Uniqueness

Of course, your name also needs to be unique. Make sure that no one else is using the name and search the database of trademarks to ensure you aren’t going to get into legal trouble for choosing it!

Why Having A Vision As An Entrepreneur Can Help You Succeed Against All Odds

“The Eagle has landed.” Those were the immortal words that Neil Armstrong spoke when he landed the lunar module on the surface of the moon on July 20, 1969, at 20:17 UTC. I was born in 1970, into a world where humans had already landed on the moon. So I never saw the moon landing till years later, when they replayed parts of it on television and I was old enough to understand what it meant. Then, I watched the movie, First Man , in which Ryan Gosling stars as Neil Armstrong . This Steven Spielberg-produced movie spans eight years from Armstrong's early work as a naval aviator and test pilot leading up to the historic Apollo 11 mission. As a sci-fi junkie and movie buff, I loved the movie, and there were a few things that became apparent as it played. The first was that space travel is pretty darn dangerous, as anyone who witnessed the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster will know. What very few of us (who were born after the moon landing), know is that in the

How Indie Musicians Are Finding Their Audience Online

The music industry has changed drastically in the last few decades and indie musicians are increasingly finding their audience online. Bands used to have a hand-to-mouth existence hoping that someone would notice them and sign on as an artist. If they lucked out, the band would sign a recording contract and — hopefully —  get the promotional power of the record label to find an audience. It has never been easy for indie musicians to become famous , get recognition and be known for their talents, and build a music brand. But today there are more opportunities than ever before, thanks largely due to the internet and music promotion sites where users can post their music and sell it to their fans. Independent musicians have always been outsiders. As a way to express themselves and share their music with the world, indie musicians have been distinct from mainstream artists. They’re the ones who choose to create their music outside of the definition of what many people consider popular. T
